The governor admitted he originally didn't give the UFO event the proper seriousness it deserved by his coming on camera with a person dressed in an alien costume giving the whole thing an aura of ridicule. The governor now says that the so-called Phoenix Lights should have been given serious scientific attention, and he wishes he had acted differently.
