Jews stole the True Cross of Jesus and gave it to the Sassanids. Rome engaged in the first ever Christian holy war to reclaim it. The Roman and the Sassanid Empires clashed in what was one of the most devastating wars of all history. Rome was left utterly exhausted, but victorious. Heraclius brought home the true cross of Christ. The Sassanids were completely shattered. Neither side had any military force remaining, and their coffers were empty. At exactly this moment Muhammad and his horde of pirates and raiders emerged from the Arabian desert, and found the rich and bountiful lands of both Rome and Persia completely undefended.

Some blamed the Jews for this misfortune and for the loss of Syria in general. There were reports that Jews helped the Persians capture certain cities and that the Jews tried to slaughter Christians in cities that the Persians had already conquered but were found and foiled from doing so.
