Let's take as a premise that YouTube Kids needs content. My assumption would be that the YTKids app would deliver corporate synergy: Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, etc. User created content? No way.

So image that PooTube made a pitch to Disney, Nickelodeon, etc: Hai guiz! We'll distributes ur contents for free or sumfin. Let's get a partnership goin'!

But the content providers balked. Disney and Turner had more aspirations to become YTKids than feed YTKids. What better way to shut the shit down than by flooding it with Elsagate vidyas?

Sound plausible?

Sounds plausible. Google certainly has an ego. I also wonder if it's a backdoor to get censorship for wrongthink under the banner of protect the kidssss.
