But is it possible, that the evidence is so damning, that it could cause a cascade of failures within the system, leading to a total or partial collapse of US society (and by extension the rest of western society), if 'they' just put the information out there?
I think you have a point here, I do believe that's the thoughts instilled into these 'leaders' the cattle cant handle the truth even if you do tell them. The petro dollar system is now so damaged and fragile any number of actors could have sponsored this and will get away with it.

With regards to an alternative system / replacement model heres one, step 1 - discontinue foreign empire expansion step 2 - self dismantle the petro dollar its an untenable system step 3 - encourage bilateral trade with all past nations you fucked up, where cash flows bullets do not. Muslims will go back to fighting each other until secular states reemerge in the region, the thing that was happening before the army decided to turn the middle east into an obstacle course, no socialist dream here just lower the chances people are going to be droned in their sleep and they might not be so pissed off.
