So as I have stated before, The Mafia run the casinos in Las Vegas. They have however changed from the mafia face to a corporate face to keep people none the wiser.
The brother( or possibly even Steve himself ) during his latest interview he almost said his brother was an arms dealer based on context clues around when he flubbed up.
Everything hes stated in regards to taking care of his mother and him and how he takes care of everyone around him sounded very interesting.. Especially for a high rolling gambler.
High rollers usually know the hotel owners and people that run the joints fairly well I would imagine. Note, owners/people that run the hotels and casinos are mafia bosses.
Reason I am concluding this is the dude would go to china and eat sushi and try to get the hotel to pay for it... uhhh.. yeah that sounds like something that a casino "perk" card would give you. The hotels are run by mafia. Steve had the hookup with the mafia and would get everything comped from them. Most likely because he sold them guns and got them things that they needed. He was most likely a mule.
The brother states he is an "old fashioned" guy and the way that he says it irked me.
Steve/the brothers father was a notorious bank robber. Bank robbers back in the day were generally a part of the mafia as well, were they not? Especially if you are on the FBI's most wanted list.
Now, if you google the name Paddock+Mafia a few things come up.

A major mafia bar back in the day was called the paddock.
Biloxi, Mississippi has The Paddock Club
Horse racing ( i can guarantee mob is affiliated in that gambling as well ) has paddocks included as well.

If you search for Paddock on this website you get the following.
Organized crime presents a number of problems. Many organized crime families do operate within the family structure and this to an extent creates a less than desirable environment to raise children, organized criminals tend to gear their children into a negative lifestyle. Today's organized crime families are different than those that came about in the past. In the past, criminologists would examine La Cosa Nostra or the Italian Mafia, but criminal activity goes well beyond such crime families. Asian and Russian organizations enter the picture in the United States today. Asian gangs have become quite apparent in modern America. They seem to traffic in illegal goods and practices such as heroin, prostitution, and gambling (Bolz, 1995). They also engage in money laundering schemes (Bolz, 1995). This latter focus is at the heart of many crime organizations because they have to cover their tracks and make it appear as if everything they are doing is legal. Therefore, money laundering appears to be universal. Money laundering is also considered to be the key to the Russian Mafia's operations (Paddock, 1998).
Seems the Paddock family have ties to Russia.

Based on the shady background of Paddock, a connection with organized crime would not surprise me, as I stated in a post on Voat a couple of days ago. It would explain how someone who worked low-level jobs such as mail carrier could end up with a couple of houses and millions of dollars.
