This topic has been automatically removed when posted on reddit, but if you explore the blockchain page for voat's bitcoin donation wallet, youll see that there have been thousands of .00001btc (which is around one fifth of a cent) donations.

Perhaps someone who knows more about the bitcoin infrastructure can answer this for me, but what good are these 1/5th of a cent transactions, and what harm do they cause to voat directly (if any)?

It's unclear to me if those attack transactions (which are sent in batches from non-repeating wallets, numbering in the hundreds, and all at the same second) will slow voats access to funds directly, or if they simply slow down the network for everyone.

k_digi ago

Hmm yes because they all have to be included into a "block" of transactions , but as far as I know these are not being processed, bitcoin is still not functional.

deathcomesilent ago

Yeah, BTC does still seem to be down. I tried to send a few bucks to voat via crypto, and I've been waiting on the first conformation for about 36 hrs. That could be an issue with my wallet client though.

k_digi ago

Yeah, that's the issue the chain is not processing blocks.

I agree, it certainly was and is a revolutionary concept. I was just expressing how flawed it's specific economics are and I bet some others feel the same way, re this event.

k_digi ago

Bitcoin is about the most flawed version you can find, the only thing it's missing is the debt, however if it gets pushed as "digital gold" it will have debt issued off it.

it's because Greeks are taking their money and using it and the DOD doesn't want that to take off...

I had a similar thought, I figure the world economy is on the brink of disaster. Economic power houses don't want their FICA currency outed verses a true free FICA currency. Particularly a free one not under their control other than those of an economic system.

Though I am sure that my thoughts could be off or Conspiratorial dose anyone else want to weigh in?

See my comment link I think it's a battle between two big monopolies.

On one side you have the toothless "btc foundation" on the other the big Chinese mining Ops , the foundation tried to slip though a hard fork and if this fire is an indication the Chinese took out the "foundation" largest mining op and took back the chain.

superq7 ago

Oh thanks! That makes sense.

This is just after the curious 30 blocks mined by p2pool this weekend. They were mining on a separate and invalid sidechain.

k_digi ago

Did they get that run of good luck in the immediate hours after that fire in Trump Tower?

ShineShooter ago

I don't know the time of the Trump fire. The orphaned blocks were mined fri/sat.
