Shooting down a helicopter is no joke. The best insurgents in the world have trouble doing it. It usually involves expert targeting of the hydraulics (if you don't have MANPADs). There's no way some unwashed pedophile shot down anything.
Shoot the pilot, it looked like there was very little of anything left and even if they did find evidence would they tell about it as it may encourage others.

It is much easier to adulterate their fuel or identify all the local contractors and sabotage the unit prior to the action.
Or find out if the pilot has a pacemaker.
