I'm not a huge conspiracy theorist. Some of them make a whole lot of sense to me and I would call myself a believer in those, but oh man is it ever difficult to take someone seriously when they say that legalizing gay marriage is going to directly lead to the second coming and how every single politician in the world is a devil-worshiping pedophile.
I don't understand why these factors seem to show up all over the place? Youtube videos, David Icke's forums (do those still exist? It's been a long time since I've looked for them), the comments of almost literally almost anything on infowars, all over Abovetopsecret. If it were less wide-spread, I could believe that it's people just trolling or trying to discredit threads by spouting off a bunch of crazy stuff. Why does it seem to be the case that a lot of conspiracy theorists are bible-thumping bigots? And, honestly, I do not mean to offend anyone here with that description, most of the folks I've seen on voat appear to significantly more intelligent than the standard on a lot of other websites.

A lot of it is disinformation used to make believable conspiracies look just as wacky. If someone starts getting a little too close to the truth, it wouldn't be hard for someone else to stand up and say something similar but with an added degree of nonsense. That then makes both look as unbelievable as the second. What's interesting is to look at various conspiracy theories that have been proven true .
