its a bitch, i know. i shouldnt use it but the ease it allows for staying in touch with people..... what i am conscious of, is the value of the info i give it. i dont have shit for direct info in my profile of myself. tradeoff i guess :/
Facebook takes a lot more info than just what you directly input into your status or things you upload. Here's a great primer on why you shouldn't be putting your energy into it.
Seriously, if keeping in touch is the main reason, there are other ways to do it. Email is a great one, or old school it with some snail mail. Everyone loves getting things in the mail that aren't bills.

Plus imo, snapchat is a better way to stay in contact with your closest friends who are far away.

That's only because you continue to use it. If you didn't you would find other, more substantive ways to stay in contact.
Also, if you move on to other mediums, other people will do the same. Be the change that you want to see, man.
