As yet another way to push people into 10.
When I got new laptops one of the first things I noticed is the updates in 10 are now applied in a multi-threaded way and peg all 8 logical processors.
On my Windows 7 desktop, the CPU reaches about 4% during updates that take awhile, with the SSD and HDD pool both practically idle. It isn't waiting on I/O or CPU-bound, it's just sleeping a lot during the update.
