There are some huge problems with the narrative that Trump was helped by the Russians.

The first is that it would mean that the entire US intelligence apparatus failed. It would mean that the CIA, Prism, the nsa, the fbi, everyone failed when we needed them the most.

The second bit is that Clinton and podesta both had dealings with the Russians in the past, as did McCain.

The third is that all the Russians did was simply leak what the democrats where saying behind closed doors.

So why push this narrative? The answer is that it is not nearly as bad as an allegation that Obama illegally spied on the republicans. It would no longer be watergate, it would be a larger scandal of over reach, and it would destroy the dems in the worst possible time.
