Wouldn't all those companies just use cannabis to make all those things? If it is cheaper or better that means more profits. You could technically make clothes out of human hair, that does not mean human hair is a threat to cotton. I bet now that cannabis is legal in some states it won't be used for any of those things. Except medicine.

Here's the thing, people can grow cannabis themselves. If its legal, less people will need to pay for the drugs these companies produce.

Though, ultimately, marijuana's ability to replace pharmaceuticals is irrelevant. It should be legal because its relatively harmless and consenting adults shouldn't have their lives ruined because they decide to smoke a joint.

Even if it is unhealthy, people should be able to make unhealthy decisions. Big Macs are unhealthy, but eating one shouldn't get you sent to jail.

just so you faraday cagers like me are aware, @kevdude is now a confirmed shill <---- megapost. he runs v/protectvoat, with an organized cabal, Correcting Voat's Record, and posts more than anywhere else to v/soapboxbanhammer the shitpost mecca for those cabal members that have been coding censorship, behavioral restrictions, self-censorship tools into voat (not to mention keeping -ccp restrictions weaponised so as to be able to silence users with downvoat brigades the admin just allowed (but banned all users that were upvoat brigading). he's at the center of it all.

this is just one look at one (central) abuser of voat. a single rabbit hole going into the largest conspiracy on voat, about voat, of voat.

warning: SaneGoatiSwear is a known SRS operative shill, gaslighting and misquoting, tries to claim that everyone else on voat is a shill. Best to downvote and move on rather than feeding the shill.

I don't see why it would be illegal to make some of those things. I thought it was perfectly legal to make and sell hemp and don't know why it would be a problem if a company were selling hemp clothing, just that it seems like it would be much less comfortable than cotton or polyester

The current systems and contracts in place prevent them from doing so. Not to mention the current stance the government has taken over the years to demonize this so-called drug. Revoking it would turn them into hypocrites, and after years of indoctrinating the tax-payers, to prevent public outrage from the zealous masses.

If "current systems and contracts [that are] in place prevent" companies from using this miracle plant to manufacture all of these goods, then why would they supposedly spend money making sure it stays illegal? If there are no "systems" in place to efficiently process cannabis on a mass scale, then why would they be worried about it?

Ever wonder on 'why' they call it "weed"? Cause it grows like one. You don't need much in order to grow a fuck-ton. Those exact companies have lobbied against this plant years ago with false propaganda, and set forth countless of lobbyists with deals that most, if not, all major pharmaceutical companies profit from till this day. The first cars also ran on oil made from hemp, they have a major stock in this as well. So yeah, they are currently not worried as much, but with all this information floating around, people are continuously getting better informed, until they start pressuring their government. Unfortunately, there is still too much political and religious dogma surrounding.
