Utter BS. Of course there's no source other than Investopedia's claim which is itself unsourced. If you actually analyze the family holdings (i.e. Concordia BV, RIT Capital Partners (Jacob), personal wealth of Evelyn de Rothschild, various real estate holdings; you'll get to about $60-80 billion spread among (at least) dozens of people. Anything above that is completely made up unless proof to the contrary is provided. No they don't own Reuters either.
When I was looking at this yesterday, I was a bit hesitant to post it because it is not well resourced. This source -- Activist Post -- is hit and miss. Sometimes it has great articles and sometimes, as you said, it has "Utter BS."
I posted it anyway hoping for some criticism. :)
I agree with the article that we don't know how much the family holds in private assets. I think we can say with high certainty that they have more than is known. But that doesn't magically turn into two trillion. When assets are held for long periods without transactions, it is nearly impossible to assess wealth. So, I would not completely rule it out completely.
The conspiracy here could very well be that people believe they have trillions in wealth -- and that illusion is a source of their power.
Let's assume it's double or triple even though there's no evidence of that. That's still a drop in the bucket in terms of global highly concentrated wealth (which is $15+ trillion). Bottom line: when you have zero proof for something (in this dimension) you shouldn't assume it is the case.
I believe the biggest and longest-running psy-op of all is that Jews control everything. The absurd claims of $500 trillion Rothschild fortune (when all global assets- property, cash, stocks, bonds, etc- amount to about $300 trillion) and ownership of 192 central banks (when there is zero evidence they currently or have ever owned or controlled even one) are actually believed by sizeable percentage of the 'truth movement,' often by otherwise lucid people.
Yes Jews are over-represented in the power structure (for a variety of articulable reasons, none of which have to do with the Bible or Talmud), but they don't dominate it, not even the media (where Jews comprise about 24% of power) and definitely not the banking system (10%). Yes there is a powerful Israeli lobby, but it is a special-interest bully that throws its weight around on particular issues, not a hidden hand behind all world events.
The point of the 'it's-all-the-Jews' psy-op is to excuse the Gentile-dominated power structure from blame and scapegoat an outside group. That way even if there is a French Revolution-style event it's only goal might be to remove the Jews, not the 'good guys' who are of the majority's nationality/ethnicity and were simply hapless tools of secret, never-identified Jews the whole time and are not ultimately to blame. That way the architecture and (non-Jewish) majority of the membership of the power structure can remain in place and escape justice.

I wasn't even thinking of the "Jews control everything" angle. I don't buy any of that.
