  1. Probably a random set of characters probably 100+ characters

  2. I don't know of any of the programs but the only known way to open them without a key is to brute force unlock the file. So something like this 0000000000 0000000001 00000000002 00000000003 etc

  3. There is probably a checksum released by wikileaks to verify their integrity. Google "checksum check"

Not give you blue balls but cracking a key like that is going to take forever. To see how many possible combinations you have to take the number of possibilities 62 (just under and lowercase letters and numbers not including symbols) then take it to the power of how many characters you have in the key. So say we have 100 characters in the key take 62^100 and you have the answer of 1.73447861573683 * 10^179 of possibilites. This is discluding any symbols, foreign characters, etc. Supercomputers would take years and years to roll through the different key combinations. Plus it could be 150 characters or 1000 characters, something that throws us back to even more possibilites. Something you, I, and three letter agencies cannot crack.

Edit: After rereading your post I have some slightly different ideas providing you mean WikiLeaks releases the keys for the insurance files.

  1. Same as above

  2. AES Crypt would work for any system to decrypt the files

  3. Same as above

Thanks so much for the reply. I have no intention of trying to guess the PW, I just wanted to know what to keep an eye out for. And how to test any potential passwords.

Thanks for your help good sir. It is appreciated.

Now I'll be ready should they Key ever get released. Bet they shutdown the Internet if that should ever happen though. I hope we find out. I wish I could help search for the key, but I'm pretty useless when it comes to bitcoin chain researching.

Thanks again My Friend.
