You're right about that. But there's a caveat here: Currently, websites on the internet CANNOT be distributed or decentralized.
In order to have services without central servers, you have to have software running. There are exceptions, things like mercbay.com, but overall this is how things are now.
As far as making sure people only vote once, Proof of Work could easily accomplish this.
I'm not sure how this service works, though. The documentation is not good.
I agree with all your comments. It is obviously still in its infancy and hopefully it will grow with time. The mobile aspect will be an issue as you indicated it is an application that appears to function through p2p not a dev so I cannot really comment on it.
Just added it since I checked out Hubski, Snapzu and Voat and the choices for true uncensored conversation is getting quite limited. It's nice Voat is here but with the recent attacks and with the trickle of shills and SJW that might be coming down the line I am worried that we might see some of the negative effects that have ruined other platforms.

I agree and I've been using aether (which is why I'm familiar with disadvantages). I'd be happy to have more people to talk to on there.
