The aid was spent on contractors who made huge profits instead of on people who needed to rebuild homes. Honestly, they should have just wrote checks for the Haitian people and called it a day. We single handedly crushed their economy by flooding the market with random goods. Farmers, laborers, cobblers, seamstresses, even a solar panel manufacture went out of business thanks to free gifts. Now people have gotten used to the free goods and their skill sets have diminished. Donating money and goods only makes the donors feel better, it does nothing for the actual pain and suffering of people.
