I dunno, Adam Carolla talked about using one of these devices on his podcast a while back - I think in relation to that whole Miss Universe Snafu and why they simply didn't tell Steve Harvey who the winner was over the intercom. Basically they're really only used to cue in the performers or to give stage directions. Apparently it's incredibly difficult to listen to someone talking while talking yourself, that is you would have to stop to listen to what the person on the other end of the intercom was saying.
That said I think that some people are able to repeat lines almost instantaneously with practice.
I just don't know.
My understanding is that politicians use teleprompters. I mean yeah, it's all rehearsed bullshit, what did you expect?
