I believe this all comes down to fear. everyone is worried about what is around the corner. everyone is worried about each other. The world does not want WM (white males) to achieve a high degree of technological proficiency the rest of the world cannot compete with nor can ever hope to catch up with. then they will be permanently chosen to do the lesser jobs and when those jobs are automated then their population is culled. Caucasians do not want to see any society belittled to extinction naturally or not because they believe whoever's blood will be on their hands.

Liberal Christians do not want to see science dwarf their religion. their god is an awesome god. a mighty god. not a legend or a dwindling myth. they find warmth and happiness (bliss) in the ideas and communities. the horde makes them feel safe. appreciated. and vindicated. They would rather import muslims than support obvious deterrents for terrorist attacks because if we talk about how terrible islam is then eventually we talk about how terrible religion is.

If we move forward that means that some things end. There are enough of those who say it's better to stay here in the turmoil than it is to embrace space. turmoil is warm and entertaining. space is a cold vacuum. He who moves the most dirt makes the most money and lives the best life possible. why leave.
