Before 1947, Jewish settlers bought land more or less legitimately (though there are some doubts about the validity of many Ottoman-era land titles). After declaring independence, the Israelis used terror tactics to ethnically cleanse Arabs from the territories they conquered. When the war ended, the Israelis promulgated two laws: one forbidding the Palestinian refugees from returning home, and the other confiscating the property of any Palestinians who did not return. Between them, these laws amounted to the outright theft of most Palestinian-owned land.
But this by no means ended in the 1940s. In the West Bank especially, Palestinian land is still being stolen today by the Israeli state and given to Jews.

I beleive its law that Jews can only sell land to Jews. Which slowly made them receive full ownership of the country.
