Because the Vatican said, about 20 years ago now, that days during Genesis weren't 24 hours long and we don't know how long or what a day was for the creator. It was one of the things that pushed me away.
I used to use the fossil record to poke holes when people claimed the earth was about 6000 years old. If the planet is 6000 years old, why would the creator put fossils in the ground?
I firmly believe the desert religions should go back to the desert that they left. They are all based on manipulation to some extent.
