Florence Shapiro, retired State Senator and "champion" for kids who passed mandatory sex offender registration laws. Well thanks for that.
"Among her many pieces of authored and passed landmark legislation are the nationally acclaimed Ashley's Laws that help protect children from sexual predators,"
She sits on the board for a county CPS agency and has donated $70k to them.
She also went to Israel with George W. Bush.

Here she talks about recidivism and says that Ashley's laws were the new model for the country. And anyone who has offended against a child under 12 must register. Um what? Why are we letting them out in the first place and why is it a big deal that we say they have to "register" in the first place - of course they should have to register?? This dude murdered a 7 year old and appealed his death penalty conviction.

PLANO — A suburban Dallas district attorney says there's not enough evidence to uphold the conviction of a man on death row for the child slaying that led to the creation of "Ashley's Laws."
Collin County District Attorney John Roach said in a statement Friday that new DNA evidence does not connect Michael Blair to the 1993 killing of 7-year-old Ashley Estell.
The girl's death prompted the Legislature to pass tough laws, called "Ashley's Laws," that require longer prison terms and public registration for sex offenders.
At the time of the slaying, Blair was on parole after serving only 18 months of a 10-year sentence for burglary and indecency with a child.

See - they let the guy out of jail on a 10 year sentence for indecency with a child and burglary, then he killed a little girl, and this woman gets glory for passing a mandatory registration law? What the hell is a registration law going to do for some 7 year old at a park?
