Today in the general population, there is some amazing talent, the likes of which most will never see because they aren't Industry owned products.

Pop went from syrupy pap to keep you naive, to head throbbing bass with screaming to set you off in a tirade of angry emotion.

No middle ground.

The shit I listened to was top shelf.

There is plenty of good music still being made, you just won't find it on the radio/tv. There are a few sirius xm stations that will play some of these good bands/singers. But basically you need to go out and see live bands. Small venues, bars, open mic nights, independent coffee houses, etc.

The jam band scene is still going strong, bluegrass, jazz, punk if you can stay away from pop punk, any classical stuff is still amazing, basically anything that requires the musicians to be experts at their instruments and singers with great voices.

Unironically moved to the Eurobeat genre instead. 180+ songs added to a playlist later and I am likely not looking back. Modern music is shit, no decent or fun lyrics, and has a really slow beat.

I just wanna go ahead and say I doubt the situation has improved much since this small scale study was made.

It's not only music. Even DJ's have become demented. They talk only about bullshit on air.
