Celibacy contributes massively to the problem! The Australian Royal commision into institutionalised child sex abuse has recommended the catholic church stop the practice of celibacy to help fix their problem. However their secret masonic/satanic inner circle ceremonies and culture go way beyond the problem of celibacy.
I don't think that they are celibate, the church protects them no matter how much they violate their vows and rape children, so it stands to reason that child rapists chose to become priests where they can pursue that lifestyle.
They take this vow willingly, and I believe that a priest can quit the church at any time.
The celibacy restraint was imposed to prevent the church from having to support dead priest's widows and children (source: my brother who attended a jesuit university) because that's just too damn expensive.
Essentially, the Church willingly and complicity uses its vast wealth, resources and authority to commit and or permit crimes against children. They know and worse than not caring, they willfully continue to permit it.
And, I'd like to believe that deviancy is a choice.
yes, except I imagine much of that wealth was accrued through some narfarious way in the first place. Confessionals to collect blackmail, indulgences for extortion...
