It was sepsis and heart attack from sepsis that killed her. She may have also still been on prednisone, which makes sepsis more dangerous and less visible until its too late. It would have been a ruptured intestine that caused the septic shock, yes.

Foreign object wouldn't do this without being found by the doctor, assuming the object stayed there and caused the obstruction. They said narrowing, which is caused by scar tissue, sometimes naturally. It very well could have been Crohn's. Honestly tho, everyone I've met who had Crohn's had some kind of major emotional disturbance in their life, something like PTSD from it before they got sick. I know it sounds callous to say, but the emotional component of intestinal Crohn's disease, which itself causes narrowings, could have been a byproduct of abuse. I am suspecting the abuse took place earlier on and then when she got sick, something happened that triggered it. If the bowel obstruction was in the same part of the intestine that Crohn's usually strikes, which is likely as they diagnosed it as Crohn's, then its very unlikely one human can do this to another, directly. If the narrowing was found in the colon, closer to the anus, then yes absolutely it could have been related to abuse and in the healing from abuse her intestine healed shut, causing a permanent bowel obstruction, which she didn't know about and kept eating, eventually ruptured her bowel. It sounds very similar to the natural course of Crohn's disease, so really either situation is possible. I suspect both abuse and Crohn's.
