In 2011 they took - YES TOOK - two boys from El Salvador then aged two and four, and only legalized this adoption two years later in 2013.
The girls they adopted a year later are (allegedly) siblings of the boys that Desantis took from a 'work immersion trip in El Salvador'.

There were 30 children adopted that day. Barrows was probably there. Can we find out why?
