Given all the media frenzy over Edgar Maddison Welch’s incredibly ill advised foray into Comet Ping Pong this week, I wanted to point out several blatant inconsistencies, if not outright lies that I and others have identified with the narrative that is being spun.

I. Odd Washingtonian article posted before the incident/possible time glitch

The first odd development, which in all fairness could possibly be a glitch, was an article posted by the Washingtononian about the Comet incident. The only problem was that the article was posted hours before the incident actually occurred. Here you can see the metadata revealing the time the article was posted:

Now, users have commented around Reddit that this could be a fairly common time glitch which has been known to occur before. That is entirely possible. However, there was an additional twist when a reporter was queried about the time discrepancy on Twitter. She refused to comment on it:

Why would she refuse to answer that question? If she didn’t know, why didn’t she just say so? Why not explain she wasn’t aware that this had happened or didn’t understand the details of the situation, and tell the person asking to direct their questions to the Washingtonian and Google to resolve the issue? Until we can get some more info on this, it’s a pretty strange occurrence.

II. A witness seems to have lied about what gun Welch was carrying

The most damning thing I have seen surface yet is the testimony of lawyer Sharif Silmi. His twitter lists him as an international business attorney with a specialty in the “movement of people and goods” (could this story become any more of a meme?). He was present at Comet Ping Pong with his family, and took several photos of the gunman surrendering to police. He was one of the first people to tweet about the incident and confirmed three times on Twitter that the gunman was carrying a shotgun:

He also said he did not hear Welch firing any shots, despite being one of the last people to leave the restaurant:

He repeated his claims on CNN:

He later appeared on Alex Jones’ show, where he vigorously attacked Jones for supposedly being involved with the whole thing (Jones has kept his distance, in his defense). He confirmed all the claims he made earlier on Twitter, also notice how vehemently he wants people to stop looking at Comet Ping Pong:

There is just one problem with Silmi’s testimony: it is in direct conflict with what the police are saying actually happened. The gunman never carried shotgun into the bar, he had an assault rifle and pistol. A shotgun was apparently later found in his vehicle and never was used in the incident.

Fox News reported that a “cold” assault rifle and pistol were recovered from the scene, and a “rifle” (incorrect reporting on the shotgun) was recovered from Welch’s car:

CBS also confirmed that he only entered the shop with an assault rifle and pistol, and mentioned that the shotgun and knife were later rounded up by police (from the car):

Go back and watch the Infowars video again. Silmi claims that he was in the pizzeria with his whole family, including his children. Fathers, is your normal response when your children are threatened to first defend the establishment you were eating at, which you had never been to before? Notice how vehemently Silmi defends Comet. Why isn’t he angry that his kids were in danger? Why is he doing more to defend people who he supposedly has no connection to, instead of his own wife and children? Shouldn’t he be angry at Alex Jones for supposedly endangering his whole family?

Keep in mind that he is a lawyer. His entire presentation is thoroughly coached. Anyone with a legal education knows how to identify an expert witness who is pushing a certain narrative. This guy is pushing a very specific agenda, not only is he not having natural reactions to a situation where his family was in danger of death, he is pushing a specific narrative to defend an establishment which he was supposedly eating at for the very first time.

III. Alefantis told the BBC something that directly contradicted what he told MetroWeekly a year ago

This one is fairly straightforward. In a recent interview/report on pizzagate run by the BBC, Alefantis told them the following:

"They ignore basic truths," Alefantis tells BBC Trending. For instance, the conspiracy supposedly is run out of the restaurant's basement. "We don't even have a basement."

That's an interesting comment, because guess what? In April 2015, Alefantis told MetroWeekly that he DID have a basement:

But I didn’t even know that existed actually until they said that. I was like, “What do you mean? There’s another way? You can just buy these things?” Because a lot of restaurants will open a can and put it on. Like our sauce — we harvest a whole crop of organic tomatoes — 10 tons of tomatoes every year. Can them all, store them in the basement, have like a harvest party when it gets loaded in.

Did he lie about the presence of a basement in his establishment? Did he just misspeak to MetroWeekly? It’s a very curious point because the context of the MetroWeekly interview was to cover a Food Network episode which had recently been run on Comet Ping Pong.

This story did not develop organically. We have clear evidence that witnesses are lying at the very least.
