This is incredibly serious and not a joke whatsoever. Someone, and I'm sure they will read this, attempted to doxx me IRL. In doing so, they ended up doxing a random person and exposed their name on Voat. This is completely serious.
I have a post in a sub of mine I use to post links to cool thinks I find and stuff I will forget. One of the links I posted was this:
and as you can see, I have some stuff in there about how to make molds and a google maps link. If you click the link, you will see a picture of a very rare BMW M1. It's an extremely rare car and it was a cool find on Google maps, so I kept it.
Well, a Voat mod, one who has been after me for a couple days so far, thought this was MY address and where I lived, or a place where I bought car parts from (its not). So, what did they do? They made a real, serious attempt to doxx me.

Well, it turns out they went ahead and did just that.

Whomever this, clearly one of the mods who has been following me around, not only attempted a very real doxx attempt on me, but successfully released private information of the homeowner thinking it was me. This IS illegal and punishable by law.

It is possible for doxxing in this way to be prosecuted as assault, as the intent was to intimidate someone or threaten them with violent conduct.
This was assuredly intended for the bolded portion above.
You can hate me all you want and say whatever you like about me, but this was a real doxx attempt and in the end, a random person who probably has no idea what Voat is was doxed. This IS being handled. Whoever you are, you doxed a random person. What the fuck is wrong with you? Did you not think of what you were doing before you did it? The information was forwarded to the appropriate parties.

the attempt to doxx me revealed private information about a random person whos got nothing to do with the drama on here. now, their first and last name is publicly available as well as their address. since this relates to my username, it does have to do with me and this was a real crime. I don't care if you're the president of the united states and you doxx someone. it's illegal, especially with the intent behind this attempt. if they did it once, they will do it again. I have no mercy for people who stoop that low and there is NO justifying it

Additionally, using the information with malicious intent also constitutes breaking the law per multiple law firms.
You're attempting to justify a dox attempt and revealing of a name and address of a person, who's info wouldn't have been correlated and revelead had it not been for the intent of the person who did so.
There is no mercy for those who dox.

Whether anyone has done anything that we know of or hasnt, the only way to determine that is through a law enforcement investigation.
If you honestly think this post outlining a real dox attempt is for shits and giggles, then I dont think you understand. At its core this was a very real attempt to release personal information about myself and even went as far as a real name being released, albeit not mine.

Whatever the case may be, I have filed a police report citing the original post, accounts involved and links. I followed up yesterday about it.
I tolerate 99% of the "fucking with you" attempts, but that 1%, the doxing 1% is something I don't and I have ZERO mercy for anyone who tries to do so. so whoever did this can get fucked

this was destroyed when someone tried to doxx me. someone who is apparently trusted by putt and kevdude. a joke or not, I don't take doxing or dox attempts as a joke and I will pursue their punishment to teach them and anyone else who thinks doxing is OK a lesson.

An internal investigation conducted by friends and "co-mods" of the person who did it? I 100% do not trust that whatsoever. How on earth do you expect me to believe that? Its a group of you, who are supposedly the ones who "protect" Voat, but on the same token do the exact opposite by encouraging behavior such as the person who "jokingly" tried to doxx me. How is that protecting anything? That is encouraging MORE distrust in those who "protect" voat. More distrust then voat already has for them.
