Ransomeware has become a headache in the medical community. Hospitals get shut down unless they pay the ransom for the decryption keys for their systems.
It is almost always attributed to organized crime in eastern Europe, but is this the truth?
I have never heard of these attacks outside of the US or the West. You never hear about russian or chinese hospitals being taken down with ransomeware. It seems to be western nations.
Our government would have us believe that we are under attack by organized crime that hates us.
However, no one is held accountable. With all this magic spying software that they have, they have yet to arrest anyone.
The only reason i can see for this is that they are behind the attacks, and are using this as a means to raise money for extralegal operations. They are not only raising money, but they are also trying to legitimize their existence by demonstrating that the country is still vulnerable, with vulnerabilities that THEY built into the system.
