I’m out of here. First, I have employment and academic pursuits which take up a lot of my time. Second, Whoaverse is turning into reddit – same users, same subverses, same complainers, etc. I’ve passed the moderation torch for /v/medicine over to someone who will maintain the integrity of the subverse. I ask that the admins keep this individual as moderator because he will run the sub as it should be run – to expand the knowledge of the lay and to trade information about evidence-based medicine. Contrary to what many here believe, medicine is a field in which conspiracies and alternative medicine have no place – “alternative” medicine that works is called “medicine.” Conspiracies are a form of cognitive dissonance used by those who can’t fathom that their non-evidence and science-based opinions are wrong. There’s enough damage being caused by patients and other individuals who think they know more than their doctor because they did some googling and by those that think there’s some “big pharma” conspiracy out there. The medicine subverse should not add to that fraudulent discussion. The individual put in charge of /v/medicine will not allow any non-medicine (i.e., conspiracies or alternative medicine) to be published.
This is not censorship. It is the prevention of false and fraudulent material being posted on a forum that deals with the health and well-being of individuals. Not some lame conspiracy belief about crop circles. I say conspiracy belief because conspiracies aren't theories. A theory implies some measure of measurable truth. Conspiracies do not have this.
I thought whoaverse was set up as a place to be different from reddit but it’s turning into an exact clone of reddit. Instead it seems to have become a place for conspiracy believers to sound off and cry to the admins when things don’t go their way.
I wish /u/atko all the best in this endeavor.

I sure hope Jerry remembered to pick up Mike's gold-watch from the engravers. 11 days is nothing to sneeze at and we should acknowledge and honor his brave journey. To OP!
