I must confess, I saw the word Black and assumed it was some homo reference.

If you look at various definitions in Black's, it really opens your eyes. For example, "person" is a legal fiction (your all caps name). That's why laws, regulations, etc. Refer to persons and not men and women. Eg. All persons shall do x y z. Because (((they))) know they have no authority over free men and women.
